How to choose a Washing machine?

What all things you should keep in mind bfore choosing a Washing machine?

In this article, I will explain you the most important factors that you must consider while buying a washing machine. I will also try to answer some frequently asked question at the last. So, Let's get started

Capacity

Perhaps the first and most important factor that you have to decide while buying a washing machine is its capacity. Your machine’s life depends on this question because if you have a big family and still chose to go with a lesser load washing machine then you will have to run your machine multiple times in a day. The below image will help you decide which load capacity you should choose.

Front Load Or Top Load?

The Top Load machines are cheaper than the Front Loading washing machines. That means, if you are running tight on budget then a top load model would be a better choice.

One major advantage of Top-load models is that you can even add clothes mid-way of a wash cycle while that is not possible in the Front-load machines

Top-loading machines are ergonomically friendly as the opening and closing lid is at the top plus it is much more comfortable to use especially for the elderly or if you have trouble bending down.

On the downside, the top load models consume almost double the water being used by Front loading machines, more water means more power required in case your machine has an inbuilt heater. Front-loaders cleans clothes with less water because they use gravity to create agitation by rotating the drum to cycle the clothes above the waterline and drop them again into the water.  This even results in better cleaning of clothes than Top loaders.

Front-load machines are comparatively expensive but are very efficient, consumes lesser water, power and cleans clothes much better than the Top loaders.

As I have brought out that a major disadvantage of front-load machines is that you cannot add clothes mid-way of a cycle, however, few companies have now come up with a feature to allow adding clothes mid-way of a wash cycle in Front Loading machines also.

I will thus sum up my article here by concluding that, if you have a large family and you want to conserve electricity, water and maintain your clothes in a much better way then opt for a Front load washing machine.

However, if you have a small family of say, 2-3 members and if your clothes don’t get heavily soiled, then a top load will be a better choice for you.
